Fort McCoy’s Qualified Recycling Program (QRP) achieved monumental reuse and recycling milestones during Fiscal Year (FY) 2026. Through strategic partnerships across directorates, the Army Reserve-funded installation’s program diverted tons of material from landfills while generating substantial revenue to support base operations.
Under the Department of War framework and 10 U.S.C.§ 2577, a QRP is an organized, installation-level initiative designed to recover, segregate, and sell recyclable scrap materials from the military waste stream. Rather than treating these materials as standard trash, QRPs enhance the marketability of waste products to prevent landfill buildup, reduce disposal costs, and generate revenue for the installation.
“Fort McCoy’s recycling mission is fueled by teamwork and a shared commitment to stewardship,” said Nathan Sobojinski, Operations and Maintenance Division Chief, Directorate of Public Works. “Every directorate we partner with plays a direct role in helping us safeguard resources, reduce waste, and return value back to the installation.”
