For Janice Slater, 91TV Pro’s Regional Controller for the West Coast Region, growth has been the defining theme of her career at 91TV Pro. When she joined the company six years ago, she supported seven locations in the Southwest Florida Region. Today, she oversees financial operations for 18 locations and facilities, a remarkable expansion fueled by acquisitions and steady organic growth. Within just a few months of her hire, the region completed two acquisitions, and the momentum has continued ever since. Through it all, Janice has remained a steady, strategic force behind the numbers.
Before joining 91TV Pro in 2020, she served as Assistant Division Controller at Republic Services. Her path to 91TV Pro came during a major life transition. Janice and her husband were ready to relocate to Florida, and it was her husband who discovered the Regional Controller position and encouraged her to apply. “He told me the job description sounded like it was written for me,” she recalls. He was right.
Janice was intentional about staying in the solid waste industry. She appreciated that the Controller role at 91TV Pro focused strictly on accounting and finance rather than combining HR responsibilities, allowing her to concentrate on her strengths. She also values the industry’s stability. “It’s straightforward from an accounting perspective and recession-proof,” she explains. “There will always be trash and the need for it to be picked up. What we do is essential.”
Beyond the work itself, Janice says the company’s culture truly sets 91TV Pro apart. She credits Founder and Executive Board Chairman John Jennings with building a company in which each region operates almost like its own business. That autonomy gives leaders a sense of ownership and pride while allowing them to create processes that best serve their local customers.
She also values the genuine support she has gained from leadership. Two years ago, when her husband underwent heart surgery, her Division Vice Presidents, Bill Jones and Bob ten Haaf, organized a meal train during his recovery. “It was such a blessing not to have to worry about food,” she says. “It made me feel valued, not just for the work I do, but as a person.” During demanding seasons like budgeting, when long days are common, that sense of mutual respect and care makes a lasting difference.
As the region continues to grow, so does her team. She welcomed a Regional Staff Accountant to her team for the North area of the West Coast Region at the end of 2024 and added one for the South area just this year. She notes, “Building a strong team is critical to keeping up with our growth.” She appreciates that when she raises her hand and communicates the need for additional resources, leadership listens and respects her input.
Outside the office, Janice enjoys embracing the Florida lifestyle with her husband, relaxing by the pool, visiting the beach, and spending time in the South Florida sunshine. Family remains at the center of her life. Her son, William, and daughter-in-law, Carly, have three sons, and her stepdaughter, Amber, has one son, making her a proud grandmother of four. She and her husband also share their home with two devoted dogs, Gracie and Sammie.

She has built a career grounded in discipline and expertise, while never losing sight of the importance of family, teamwork, and community.
