On August 14 and 15, the City of Chester partnered with sustainable waste solutions provider Reworld® and J&K shredding to host a free electronics recycling and onsite paper shredding event for the residents and business owners of Chester.

The event collected 400 pounds of mixed electronics, helping Chester residents and business owners dispose of e-waste and paper items responsibly. Following waste collection, Reworld® transported the e-waste items to its electronics waste processing facility in Philadelphia, where they were sorted and dismantled into individual commodity streams and ultimately reintegrated into manufacturing supply chains, in compliance with the Pennsylvania Covered Device Recycling Act 108.

By providing residents with a free and accessible option for responsible electronics disposal, the event reduced the environmental and safety risks associated with improper battery disposal in standard waste streams while supporting the reuse of valuable materials and a more circular economy.

Residents with additional e-waste can bring items to a participating Goodwill Keystone facility for free, where Reworld will ensure safe and sustainable processing.
