Closed Loop Partners announced that its Catalytic Capital & Private Credit Group has provided a multi-million-dollar loan to Pro Disposal Inc., a family-owned hauler and materials recovery facility (MRF) headquartered in Ebensburg, PA. The loan was deployed through Closed Loop Catalytic Capital & Private Credit’s local recycling strategy to finance sortation equipment at Pro Disposal Inc.’s new 40,000-square-foot, 20-ton-per-hour MRF in Ebensburg. By financing upgrades for this facility, the loan aims to increase the efficiency and capacity of U.S. recycling infrastructure, expand recycling services for more communities and enable resilient domestic supply chains for recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) in the U.S.

Amidst shifts in global recycling supply chains and growing domestic demand for recycled materials, Closed Loop Partners remains focused on unlocking domestic supplies of recycled materials, including rPET, through its investments in U.S.-based recycling operators like Pro Disposal Inc.

Closed Loop Partners’ loan to Pro Disposal Inc. was deployed at a critical time in the recycling operator’s growth, as its previous five-ton-per-hour system, which relied primarily on hand-sorted operations, had required further scale to keep pace with the growing volume of collected materials entering their facilities. The new equipment financed by this loan is installed at Pro Disposal Inc.’s new MRF in Ebensburg, which incorporates new sortation equipment, including four new optical sorters intended to enhance throughput and produce higher-quality bales.

These upgrades are a key step in Pro Disposal Inc.’s growth over the last 25+ years. Founded in 2002, Pro Disposal Inc. has expanded from a single truck into a leading hauler and recycling operator in the central Pennsylvania region. As an operator of more than 125 vehicles across nine counties in Pennsylvania, with operations extending into Maryland and West Virginia, the company serves over 100,000 customers and employs 152 people across its locations.

“Over two decades, we have been committed to accelerating efficient recycling systems and reliable recycling services for the communities around us. Every ton of material we process at Pro Disposal Inc. is a ton kept out of a landfill and put back into productive use. These upgrades to our facility are a key step in our growth, and this loan from Closed Loop Partners helps us bring this work to life,” said Michael Bellvia, President & CEO at Pro Disposal Inc. “With more efficient operations to process more materials, support jobs in the region and strengthen local infrastructure, we can continue to keep valuable resources circulating in domestic supply chains and support a waste-free future for our community.”

This loan to Pro Disposal Inc. reinforces Closed Loop Catalytic Capital & Private Credit’s long-term commitment over the last 10+ years to accelerate capital to private companies and municipalities strengthening recycling infrastructure, equipment and technologies across collection, sortation, processing and end manufacturing, and supporting equitable access to recycling for more communities.

“Strong domestic recycling infrastructure bolsters durable domestic supply chains. Backing the growth of regional operators like Pro Disposal Inc. is a key step in our work to reduce waste, increase recycling across the U.S. and unlock new domestic supplies of recycled materials to meet market demand,” said Ray Hugel, Managing Director and Co-Head of Closed Loop Catalytic Capital & Private Credit, Closed Loop Partners. “As material volumes grow at Pro Disposal Inc.’s facility, we’re proud to support their continued growth, leveraging catalytic capital’s ability to unlock scale and move more capital into the circular economy.”
