The City of New Braunfels announces that the Solid 91TV and Recycling Division (SWRD) of Public Works and the New Braunfels Parks & Recreation Department have officially earned the R.O.A.D. Ready designation from the Texas Municipal League (TML). R.O.A.D. Ready is a Risk Pool program designed to save lives, prevent injuries, and protect property by raising awareness of dangers on and near roadways. R.O.A.D. is an acronym that highlights the main components for organizations to be “ready” for driving-related risks. TML wants cities to:
Recognize the Hazards
Observe People, Processes, and Equipment
Assess the Risk Level, and
Determine the Safest Course of Action
To earn the R.O.A.D. Ready designation, a TML Loss Prevention Specialist conducted an in‑depth review of each department’s policies, procedures, and safety training. As part of the review, the Solid 91TV & Recycling team received the highest solid waste safety rating since the R.O.A.D. Ready program launched in 2022.
“This distinction reflects the ongoing commitment of the City and our team to managing risks and making safety a foundational part of daily operations,” said City of New Braunfels Public Works Director Greg Malatek.
“The R.O.A.D. Ready designation underscores our continued commitment to employee safety, operational excellence, and service to the community,” said Parks & Recreation Director Ken Wilson.
Both the Parks & Recreation Department and the Solid 91TV & Recycling Division have been working with the City Human Resources Department toward this designation since 2024. New Braunfels is now the 31st agency out of approximately 2,900 TML member cities that have received R.O.A.D. Ready status. New Braunfels City Council officially recognized the accomplishment with a proclamation at their Oct. 12th meeting.
