Leaders from municipal government, recycling operations, technology and investment will gather at Cornell Tech on October 30 for the 2026 NYSACC Conference on the Environment. The program will bring together perspectives on the technologies and infrastructure shaping recycling and responsible resource recovery in New York City and across New York State.
For recycling operators, new technology raises practical questions about recovery performance, integration with existing facilities and operating economics. The conference will connect those questions with a program covering artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced recycling, organics and circular economy strategies.
“There is no shortage of interesting technology in recycling. The harder question is whether it can improve recovery, make economic sense for operators and municipalities, and actually get deployed,” said Stan Chen of the Manhattan Solid 91TV Advisory Board.
The updated speaker roster includes Gregory Anderson, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Sanitation; Ron Gonen, Founder and CEO of Closed Loop Partners; Thomas Outerbridge of Circular Services; Kathryn Walker of ESF’s Center for Sustainable Materials Management; and Carson Potter and Jack Bernardino of AMP.
Technology and Recycling Infrastructure
The program brings several parts of the recovery system into the same discussion. Listed topics include:
- AI and robotics in resource recovery and recycling systems.
- Advanced recycling technologies and the infrastructure needed to recover materials.
- Organics management and composting systems alongside biochar and biosolids management.
- Textile to textile recycling and circular economy strategies across material streams.
