Circular Action Alliance Colorado (CAA Colorado) announced another major milestone in the implementation of EPR for packaging and paper, with 13 additional recycling processing facilities joining the program. Combined, Colorado’s participating facilities have the capacity to process more than 200,000 tons of recyclables annually, helping set the stage for CAA Colorado to meet program plan goals. With the latest collection agreements, more than 400,000 Colorado households have access to no-cost recycling at home through the producer-funded program. This recent and sustained progress represents an important step in building the statewide network of collectors and recycling facilities needed to deliver Colorado’s new and lasting recycling system.
“Colorado’s EPR program is moving from plans and agreements to real services and infrastructure for communities across the state,” said Colorado Executive Director Juri Freeman. “Every new agreement brings us closer to a more convenient and consistent recycling system for Coloradans, supported by the producers of packaging and paper products.”
Recent agreements include Apex 91TV Solutions, the City of Thornton, Ranch Creek 91TV and WM of Colorado. CAA Colorado previously announced agreements with communities including Cortez, Dolores and Oak Creek, and others.
For residents, the timing of new recycling services will vary by community and service provider. Residents should contact their local recycling provider for information about when service through Colorado’s EPR program will become available in their area.
“WM is excited to work with CAA Colorado to help expand access to recycling services across the state,” said David Brannon, Area Vice President for WM. “This program represents an important opportunity to make recycling more accessible and consistent for Colorado residents, including communities that historically have had fewer recycling options. We look forward to bringing our operational experience and infrastructure to this collaboration and to working with CAA Colorado to successfully implement the program.”
