The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has been named a top performer in campus engagement in the 2026 Sustainable Campus Index. The recognition reflects the work of students, faculty and staff to make sustainability part of campus life. Nebraska earned all 25 available points in the campus engagement section of its Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System — or STARS — report. The category measures how universities communicate sustainability efforts, engage students and employees, and assess campus awareness and participation.
The annual index, published by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, recognizes top-performing colleges and universities across 13 sustainability impact areas. The rankings are based on institutions’ STARS reports.
“This honor is a reflection of the shared commitment by students, faculty and staff to enhancing sustainability at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln,” said Morgan Hartman, sustainability manager for the university. “Our progress is possible because people across the institution are investing their time and integrating sustainability into their teaching and learning, research efforts and engagement.”
